The New Academy

A Free, Personalized Curriculum

If in society there is no understanding of truth, no discipline for goodness, and no recognition of beauty, one must turn to the works of previous generations to recover all three. This is the basis of all education: the acquisition of past knowledge for future use. Modern schooling does almost the opposite, weighed down by tests, culture, and money. Thus, Aurelia offers a free K-12 curriculum to guide the holistic growth of children even in the midst of such bureaucratic stagnation - like plants grown through concrete.

Rethinking Education

Learning for Everyday & Academic Fulfillment

In his personal diary, John Quincy Adams recorded a quote originally ascribed to Caecilius Statius: “He who plants trees labors for the benefit of future generations.”

Recognizing this sentiment as a natural allegory for education, Aurelia seeks to plant and nurture a new form of personalized, holistic learning into the sterile ashes of our secular, industrialized schools. Like saplings sprung from charred soil, Aurelia frames all future programs as elements of a tree grown to provide shade for the youth yet to come, with leaves striving ever for the new light come at dawn.

Thus, Aurelia’s L.E.A.F. program aims to provide K-12 students with the intellectual component of their personal development. Alongside real-life experiences offered by B.A.S.E. and career preparation within R.O.O.T., this curriculum allows students to work at a flexible pace to progress as quickly as possible in the academic subjects that appeal most to who they are and what they seek in life.
